MY TIME

My Time - Supporting parents of children with disabilities

MyTime groups provide facilitated peer support for mums, dads, grandparents and anyone caring for children with a disability, developmental delay or chronic medical condition. Socialise and share ideas and information with others who understand the rewards and intensity of caring for a child with special needs.

MyTime groups provide local support for anyone caring for a child of school age with a disability or chronic medical condition. Parents and Carers can meet with people in similar circumstances to share experiences, hear from others and find out about available community support. each group has a play helper who can lead children in activities such as singing, drawing, and playing with toys, blocks and sand, so parents can spend ti e focusing on catching up with others.

The MyTime program is coordinated nationally by the Parenting Research Centre and funded by the Australian Government Department of Families,Housing,Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
MyTime peer support groups are located in every Australian state and territory.  By June 2010 there will be 262 MyTime peer support groups throughout the country.
